Unity setup guide

Set up Unity remote logging

From package import to your first dashboard log.

Follow the steps below to connect a Unity game to IndieCrab and verify that error reports arrive.

Install and connect IndieCrab

  1. Download and import the package. Download the IndieCrab Unity package. In Unity, choose Assets > Import Package > Custom Package and import its contents.
  2. Create your IndieCrab project. Register with your project name, then open the project in your dashboard and copy its API key.
  3. Configure the included asset. Select Assets/IndieCrab/IndieCrabConfiguration.asset in Unity and paste the API key into its API Key field. Error and Exception reporting are enabled by default; Warning reporting is optional.
  4. Add the logger to your scene. Create a GameObject, add the IndieCrabLogger component, and assign IndieCrabConfiguration.asset to its Configuration field. Put the object in the first scene your game loads. The component persists across later scenes.
  5. Send a test error. For a test in Unity Play mode, enable Allow Logging From Editor in the configuration and call Debug.LogError("IndieCrab setup test"); from your game code. Then open the project dashboard and inspect the current day. Turn editor logging off again if you only want logs from player builds.

What the package sends

The included logger reports the enabled Unity log types with a UTC timestamp, game version, message, stack trace, and platform. It can also attach optional user and scene context when your game sets those fields. Only pass player data that your privacy notice and consent flow cover.

If no logs appear

  • Confirm that the API key belongs to the project you are viewing.
  • Check that the logger component has the configuration asset assigned and is active in the starting scene.
  • For Play mode tests, enable Allow Logging From Editor. This option is off by default.
  • Test with an Error or Exception. Warnings are disabled by default.
  • Check that the device can reach IndieCrab over HTTPS, then look at the correct project day in the dashboard.

Inspect your logs

The dashboard shows daily message counts for each project. Open a day to inspect the incoming messages and stack traces.
